wonder what the ideal amount of time spent on work is. tim ferriss seems to recommend 4 hours (surprise, surprise...) of "real" work.

what's your "Time and attention management" like?

Mine? It sucks. I've noted that the 4-hour limit is pretty accurate for actual focused work, but I've drifted into some areas (technical translation) that don't always need a lot of focus.

It varies.

i think the balancing he talked about happened far earlier than the bans. or what bans on what kinda incandescent lightbulbs are you talking about?

it's down. :( what is it? just drowning out distracting sounds or magic productivity noise?

so i dropped my weapon to pick a flower and then i went into the dungeon unarmed... great

There is a weapon in the dungeon! Just have to find it.

There is sometimes another weapon in the dungeon. Hence, the rougelike nature.

I just kept wielding the flower. I killed with love.

Step back over the weapon to pick it up again.

that doesnt mean there's a better option though. what else are we gonna do, have some committee tell us which toothpaste to use?

Basic regulations about what makes a toothpaste fit to sell is a good start.

looks like the a-team is helping the rebels

can't one just install a different OS? or is the chromebook pixel using some weird hardware?

Chromebook used to be locked down iirc. Anyway it isn't anymore, so yes you can install *nix or whatever on it.

Chromebooks never used to be locked down.

Nope, people have Linux Mint on the pixel now.

Which has non-existant support for high pixel density displays. I hope they enjoy messing with DPI settings which mess all apps you use.

Linux support for such displays it not there yet.

uh, all im seeing is a quote about some piece and it fades out until i move the mouse again...??

Yeah, same for me with Chrome. Irritating, isn't it. The site seems poorly designed. I can see a Flashblock icon in the top left so I know what's broken, but I can't click on the Flashblock icon to enable the content, as it won't take focus. Despite being interested in the topic I didn't dig deeper, so they lose a reader.

There should be a video in the background full screen, try with another browser.

looks like you can put string arrays and int arrays into the same array though.

"data = [ ["gamma", "delta"], [1, 2] ] # just an update to make sure parsers support it"

so in a static language it would be like: Array<Array<???>> not sure this makes any sense

it's not like it's a good thing for hackers if their OS doesn't "just work".

Of course it's not a good thing... If you want to hack on your system only to find out that it's all been prepackaged and filled with bells and whistles that can't be removed, there ain't much hacking you can do!

Sometimes, one wants to hack on other than the system.

I'm not sure who you're addressing, because I never argued against that... in my original comment: "[some people] rather something that "just works""
