Pixel camera app is fully supported by GOS, you just install it from Play store (or from other sources). If you don't have Google Photos installed the last photo preview won't work, but you can install a 'shim' app that fixes it without need for Photos app: https://github.com/lukaspieper/Gcam-Services-Provider

Sandboxed Google Play receives no special access at all, so you can deny it all permissions if you want, but you should grant network (and maybe notifications) permission for it to actually function.

Well that's a bit misleading answer. Some apps refuse to work if G services are disabled, so they clearly communicate with them. It would be nice to know what exactly G learned about the phone through those "sandboxed" apps.

It's an Android service. But unlike on regular Android where Google play services have hard-coded special permissions, on Graphene it is an ordinary android service with all the same strict rules applying to it, as to any other service you could write.

So an application of course can use other android services if it declared that, that's why it can see whether it's running or not. But you are in full control whether google play services is installed, and what it can use.

Of course this may break certain apps (Google maps location sharing will probably not work with the location permission denied for play services), which may or may not degrade gracefully.

I denied the contacts permission to the Play Services. It just shows a notification when it tries to access them, which is actually not common at all.

The claim that it actually has any measurable effect on the collective health and well-being currently lacks any proof besides "intuition".

Motorola just made a deal with GrapheneOS, so I'd vager they're going to be around for longer on that basis alone.

It is an entirely realistic scenario which afaik data backs up that most people don't change their default privacy related settings which Google profits from, but in case of actually setting their provided privacy settings ON, they do work.

You can buy used Pixel, effectively not giving money to Google, or buy a Motorola when their GOS phone is released

I also accidentally upgraded due dark pattern of auto-selecting Sequoia instead of update for Sonoma. Now my external monitor won't wake up when waking my macbook from sleep (in clamshell mode, lid always closed). Nothing fixes it, beyond infuriating.

The attack was reportedly timed for a surprise attack on Iranian leaders who happened to be in the same location at this time. They even attacked during the daytime for a risky surprise attack. To suggest the attack had anything to do with the holiday is beyond ridiculous. Also ridiculous to think they would intentionally attack a random school.

Points at the public sector

Any large enterprise. The software organisations write for themselves is pretty dire in most cases even without AI.
