Speaking about 2-paneled file managers, I’m still a fan of Far Manager on Windows.

Total Commander all the way

Nothing ever comes close... Welp only Double Commander, the gpl reimplementation :)

I remember this holy war. :)

I think Far Manager wins in extensibility and being FOSS, and Windows/Total Commander wins in out-of-the-box utility.

29 years old and still going :-)

I like MultiCommander[1], which I've been using for many years, because it's quite feature rich.

It would be great if there were some in-depth, feature-by-feature comparisons of all these two-pane file managers.

It's interesting to compare the trajectory of Databricks with Snowflake.

Last February, Snowflake raised its last funding round, $479M at a $12.4B valuation. Snowflake then went on to a gigantic, record breaking IPO in September.

This time it's Databricks, with a 2x investment at a 2x valuation. The eventual IPO will be something to watch.

Both will be considered legacy in just a couple of years

Snowflake's IPO definitely led to these terms.

It's interesting to see the visitor stats [0] on the blog itself , provided by Simple Analytics:

12K hits for the blogpost, HN is the top traffic source with 7,5K referrals.

I can confirm that the bug also present in IOS 9.2.1, running on an iPad Air 2

For links not opening, tried pressing harder or turning off/recalibrating 3D Touch?

General > Accessibility > 3D Touch

For folks reverting iOS, it seems like it's probably a preference thing (sans that bookings app.)

> In particular, all of your bookmarks will certainly be analyzed on Yahoo servers. Whereas I trust Maciej not to perform experiments on random people's bookmarks.

Well, there is this blog entry from August:

Researching Link Rot "This week I'll be running a little experiment in link rot,in preparation for an upcoming conference talk" https://blog.pinboard.in/2014/08/researching_link_rot/

Which includes this paragraph:

"If you are uncomfortable with this research and wish to opt out, please email me with your username, and I'll keep your bookmarks out of the pool. If you have questions, ask me on Twitter or email me privately, and I'll be happy to answer them."

While there's only so much privacy you can technically expect from an operator of a web data storage service, I think being upset about an opt-out study - announced only via blog and twitter - that would benefit the operator personally and users almost not at all isn't really unreasonable.

Edit after downvote: I use Pinboard and like it, think Maciej is a fantastic guy, and don't personally have problems with this study, but come on guys. He'll be alright with some dissent.

Oracle actually has upsert functionality. It is called Merge and has been available for quite a long time: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statem...
