That can't be ... "Spotify engineers haven't coded since December"

Doesn't even feel like they've committed code since December 2023

The school was part of the military base years ago, possibly the origin of the strike.

Next it will be all devices able to run Doom.

I don't see the appeal, it takes more "clicks" to do many actions and I had to disable the ridiculous new oversized "rectangle tab preview block" (whatever it's called).

yes exactly, their design was already better than chrome and condensed but now we have these outdated round and padding heavy toy controls again, just why?

I almost didn't see their email because it's sent by "notification" (notification@hetzner.com, no name set). Title is "Update on our pricing".

Anyway my increase is: EX44 (HEL1) € 44.76 -> € 50.76

Not pleased especially as the reason for the increase for existing customers is a nebulous "The costs to operate our infrastructure has increased dramatically."

Why?

Maybe I have email notifications off.

I think it's RAM and server prices globally shooting up. Extreme RAM shortage and increasing hoarding of all types of hardware supplies.

And it's not even cheap (actually its success kind of baffles me but great I guess).

And not developing their own motor since this year :(

There is on average a new submission every minute on HN. So basically an entry exposure in /newest first page is 30 minutes.

How many real people actually visit this page, browse submission, let alone consult the links, vote in earnest vs bot manipulation? Being on the front page of HN is valuable.

You can't downvote submission (or at least I can't) so low quality posts score can't even really be corrected (except flagging I guess, which sometimes feels abused but that's another problem).

Google Adsense docs says that ads.txt is not mandatory and yet I remember having no ads displayed on my website until I added one.

Yeah I thought I got a notification saying to add it for an existing site but it still seemed optional the last time I created a new site?

Yeah I've been trying Claude Code for a week (mostly Opus) and in a C++ Juce project it kept hallucinating functions for a simple task ("retrieve DAW track name if available") and actually never got it right.

It also failed a lot to modify a simple Caddyfile.

On the other hand it sometimes blows me away and offers to correct mistakes I coded myself. It's really good on web code I guess as that must be the most public code available (Vue3 and elixir in my case).
