realize you're still caught in the hamster wheel of capitalism and all you did is moot

Feelings are a strong motivator for actions, and learning/experiencing which of those activities lead to a more positive emotional/mental state is the first step to enable healthier decision making, even to escape the wheel if still necessary. It's hard to realize their value while only mentally executing them in a state where the wheel is the dominant outlook.

"how bout going from one scam to this scam?"

What you fill your inside you will find it outside.

how much did you pay for your education though?

Does it mean he will have to pay for it all his life? Ask Spaniards how they feel about the constant brain drain.

Maybe they don't care so much, but they could finance other things. Just as he's free to vote, he's free to move to another society.

Chileans currently face this disagreement. They are discussing raising tax levels to pay for more free college and to pardon a chunk of student debt. This is quite unfair to those who have already paid, and even worse for those who took on debt and haven't fallen behind, as now they will pay forever in the form of taxation.

Not everybody likes socialism, pal.

If people are taking advantage of something without retribution, it's time for the society that enables such things to get their priorities in order. Until recently, anyone could study for free in Argentina, even non-resident foreigners. A country with worse problems like food insecurity and hyperinflation was effectively funding college for foreigners, with no retribution needed. Truly a mess if you ask me. I'm glad they fixed it.

call it whataboutism (not directed towards your comment, but related): every time i'm in a discussion involving graffiti and people complain about it i ask about advertisements plastered though the city - people just shrug

can't speak about the other applications, however, unless your 6 year old is exceptional, i'd go for point and click adventures of the humongous entertainment ilk instead of sim city https://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Humongous%2...

Mostly seen younger children having a problem with 3D games, because they have to manage both the movement of the character as well as the camera perspective. I feel like below 6 years, they have a hard time wrapping their heads around it / master the controls.

Having said that, Mario Kart 8 is really a good choice (despite it being 3D): * it almost drives itself in 50cc cups * it has 4 types of cups, which gradually get harder * it's great fun alone and in coop * it has great challenges: win the cup/ win all races

if it's not about co-op, but about letting your kid drive and _you_ sitting in the passenger seat, i can highly recommend the titles from https://www.humongous.com/games They are like interactive cartoons with some mini games thrown in. Basically old school point and click adventures for kids.

hard disagree

is the co-founder/-ceo actually buying the shit, that she regurgitates? how is this a real person?

Absolutely not. The idea sounded good in the founders' heads, and now a tech blog is here to interview you, so you better "believe" what you are selling.

In what way is react related to ajax calls? I don't get it :(

The GP is saying that people use react as an ajax abstraction library.

It does make some sense. People used to use jquery exactly that way, and react provides an even better interface for ajax. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the usage of react is there just because people don't want to query their servers by hand.

> react provides an even better interface for ajax

how does react provide an interface for ajax? react does literally no calls at all...

I feel like 50% of the people complaining in this thread have never touched react or their last interaction with frontend code was jquery 15 years ago and they're still carrying those learned paradigms around and applying them to every new framework/ frontend lib they come across

Just want to highlight something from my original post:

> react is the only way this new crop of devs knows how to do DOM stuff with server side effects

DOM stuff with server side effects, they think they need react to do dynamic DOM stuff, especially if that dynamic DOM stuff affects server side state. So this isn't just about AJAX

If you like being surprised by games once in a decade, you should play it. Not saying more for fear of spoilers :)
