I'm Swedish, and I reacted then I read the article: do everyone really know what fika is? Obviously not. Fika is a coffee or a cup of tea, accompanied by a sandwich or something sweet, not after a dinner but as a small break during the day. There's a social aspect of it as well, you don't take a fika on your own.

Here in the UK, IKEA promotes Fika as a concept and offers a discounted hot drink/cake combo in the cafe.

I thought a lot about this a few years ago when my son was very much into building train tracks. I had just taken a first course in linear algebra and started to work out a mathematical solution to this very problem. It is still one of those projects I wish to complete... someday when there is more time. Guess it will be when I have grandchildren.

I tried to give an user read-only access to a private repository on GitHub a few weeks ago, and from what I could tell it isn't possible.

Did you look under Settings > Collaborators?

Yep, it's only possible to give full access there. No read only.

I'm on mobile right now and couldn't play it, but looks good. Nice work!

Thanks!

I set it up to just show a video on mobile since it wasn't performing well on my phone. It may actually work alright on newer phones, though... —not sure.

Can you add a link for those of us who want to try to play on mobipe anyways?

Definitely does! Just not full size!

This is absolutely beautiful! My wish for a tool like this is to not have it in a web environment, but as a Jack-pluggable standalone program. Then it could be used for real music composition.

But anyway, this is a really nice little app!

That's beautiful!

I was using an EEE 1001px as my main computer until a few months ago when I finally got myself a new laptop. I did replace the battery two years ago, but besides that it all parts were the original from 2010. I really like this little computer.

I'm currently using an Asus VivoBook E200H ( https://www.asus.com/uk/Laptops/ASUS-Vivobook-E200HA/ ) as my main computer, which is somewhere between a netbook and a notebook. If it didn't have such limited internal storage (32GB SSD, not upgradable without desoldering) I'd be happy to recommend it. There are plenty of pluses (super portable, long battery life, decent keyboard, etc...).

Microsoft held back the netbook market by setting strict requirements on the tech specs required for Windows licencing, without that restriction I'd suggest we'd still have a healthy market for netbooks today.

https://www.computerworld.com/article/2526983/microsoft-wind...

> ""Our license tells you what a netbook is," said Ballmer at the Microsoft-hosted day with Wall Street analysts. "Our license says it's got to have a super-small screen, which means it probably has a super-small keyboard, and it has to have a certain processor and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.""

> "Last May, the Malaysian Web site TechARP.com, which regularly leaks information provided to computer makers by Microsoft, reported that the company would restrict Starter to specific netbook configurations. According to TechARP, Microsoft will only sell Starter to OEMs for use on netbooks that have a 10.2-in. or smaller screen, no more than 1GB of memory, a hard disk drive of 250GB or less (or a solid-state drive no larger than 64GB) and a single-core processor no faster than 2GHz."

Empathy is both a cognitive and an emotional thing. Getting to know your own emotions is great and helps in understanding others, which can be achieved by meditation. But it's also necessary to think about other persons and the reason for their behaviour. Here, I think, literature and other narrative forms of culture helps us. Read good books!

This was great reading. Sure brings memories to life. My first encounter with computers was an old Spectravideo SVI-728 which I tried to program.
