i.e.: the shitshow that is going on with ILVA, our past government of grifters tried to screw over AM, which was trying to go the green route but didn't want to get sued over and over for natural disaster (caused by the previous ownership. Government promised to get that into law but at some point they did a 180), and they pulled out, since then the goal for our current government of grifters has clearly been to close the plants and send workers home with redundancy funds paid by whoever was going to buy the plants (and the taxpayers). For the last couple of years the projected job loss was around 6000 units (coincidentally the exact amount of workers in the Taranto plant), for the last two months it was around 13000 units (so like 90% of the working force) and yesterday it was 20000?
I want a car because i need a car, even tough i may agree that is environmentally unfrinedly. Unless we have a different mean of transport that gives me the same amount of freedom, i want a car.
I don't want LLMs because i don't need them, yet they are being shoved down my throat.
Came here just to rant about the FIRE and the Firefly.
The Multijet was also extremely reliable.
Instead, they were tossed aside to promote whatever garbage came out of citroen design centers, i guess to achieve the destruction of stellantis. (except in south america, they still get to use the Firefly)
Me, a young, but old fart at heart, writing firmware in C and applications in C++ (just for Qt!) that see everything wrong with the programming world today VS the junior that keep asking why we don't do the thing in javascript so we can have it on mobile as well (we do, we just use a different framework 'cause react won't ever cut it for our needs. It just takes a bit of what is called "effort" to make things look the same on all platforms) and wants emails lists to plan going out for a drink instead of, you know, asking. We're all in the same small office. Same stuff about deploying, we need github (no we don't. private git server), we need aws, woah what is this npm attack you're talking about?
At times it seems he's learning, but then he leans back into GPT and it feels like a lost cause. Yo bro it's crazy, i just deleted 2k lines of code, as if it was normal, with me raising eyebrows asking how many modules were outright deleted and never needed to be there in the first place.
Problem is, GPT and company will happily throw a lot of puke at the project and trust me bro that's essential we plan every single possible feature first and foremost instead of just testing the basics and build on top of them, because we have literally two requirements, so it's taking two months to do something i could do in two weeks, not because i'm more experienced, but because we should be doing what i'm telling to do, and not discuss whatever bullcrap the artificial manager is suggesting, which i would love to have the power to outright ban from our network.
Me and the junior have more or less the same age, just very different life journeys that led to programming
that's a grifter doing grifting. there was a thread on /g/ about this guy the other day, anons digged out much of its past as a failure / grifter in many areas, running away with the money at the first problem
When looking at this history here on HN, he started out in the poker world. I'm not sure if he played, but he wrote a poker engine or something. In my experience, the venn diagram for professional poker players, crypto enthusiasts and grifters have a lot of overlap.
But for this guy specifically there's practically complete radio silence during the crypto era. It's only recently with all the AI noise that he's become active here on HN again.

We are being second guessed by any sub organism with little brain, but opposable thumbs, at a rate much greater than before, because now the sub organism can simply ask the LLM to type their arguments for them.
How many times have you received screenshots of an LLM output yesanding whatever bizarre request you already tried to explain and dismiss as not possible/feasible/unnecessary? the sub organism has delegated their thoughts to the LLM and i always find that extremely infuriating, because all i want to do is to shake that organism and cry "why don't you get it? think! THINK! THINK FOR YOURSELF FOR JUST A SECOND"
Also, i enjoy programming. Even typing boring shit as boilerplate because i keep my brain engaged. As much as i type i keep thinking, is this really necessary? and maybe figure out something leaner. LLMs want to deprive me of enjoyment of my work (research, learn) and of my brain. No thanks, no LLM for me. And i don't care whatever garbage it outputs, i'd much prefere if the garbage was your output, or you are useless.
The only use i have for LLMs and diffusion models is to entertain myself with stupid bullshit i come up with that i would find funny. I massively enjoy projects such as https://dumbassideas.com/
Note: Not taking into account the "classic" ML uses, my rant only going to LLMs and the LLM craze. A tool made by grifters, for grifters.
