What's even more off-putting is that they are commenting on divorce being "taboo". It's clear they have a specific immigrant profile in mind. Immigrants can come from anywhere, and different countries have different views on divorce. Some countries are much less strict than the US on this matter.

Many of the cultures cited in the article do indeed have strong norms against divorce. I don't think any stereotypes need be involved.
