Seems to have some overlap (natively compiled Lua with optional manual memory management) with Terra (https://terralang.org/).


I'm technically a maintainer of Terra, and yes there's some overlap but still very different approaches.

Nelua looks really really cool. I'm going to have to give it a try tomorrow.


Terra was an inspiration to create Nelua in its metaprogramming aspects. Terra's famous Brainfuck example (on the front page of Terra) is available in Nelua's examples folder for comparison of meta programming.
