We can learn a lot from Ukraine. High peer connectivity and node
outdegree, loose coupling, open reconfiguration, many and diverse
service providers, link layer diversity, plenty of skilled engineers,
diverse endpoints... this war has validated almost every principle of
resilience engineering.
Meanwhile in some parts of the west are centralising everything,
putting all our eggs into a few tech-giant baskets, de-skilling,
moving everything to cloud services. We've abandoned the ARPA
principle that defined the net and basically inviting systemic faults.
