As a recovering long-time Ubuntu user, I encourage everyone to strongly think about whether they need to stick with it. If you need stability, there are plenty of RHEL offshots (e.g. Centos, whatever became of "old Centos" that was relaunched elsewhere), and my personal recommendation as a "drop-in"-ish replacement: OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. It's a rolling distro that has the heck tested out of it by SUSE, and I've been rolling forward an install on my laptop for years without any issue. No more worrying about whether I need to dedicate some time to clean-install my Ubuntu workstation after the dist-upgrade inevitably doesn't work correctly...
