I don't think anyone was assuming you were rich and multiple people gave you a direct answer to the actual question: It's part of Y Combinator, so it's well funded and doesn't take donations.
You could be a paying customer of some of their products. Other good ways to show appreciation: participate in good faith and follow the rules.
you don't learn a lot from YC, you do from HN content, they use their userbase to promote their products
we, the users, are the ones responsible of you "learning a lot" by submiting content, and reacting to it, therefore take my suggestion, since i contribute to that too, if you wish to "thank the people who make you learn a lot"
educating people, that's what i am trying to achieve, whether you understand or not, i won't stop
I'd just say that I don't have anything against anyone or any suggestion and I respect you for putting your words out. And I'm very thankful for what people do here.
But, no, HN does not take donations.
