The issue is probably more cultural, of encouraging young people and adults alike to live a certain "lifestyle" or "way of life", which a ban doesn't necessarily accomplish
This "lifestyle" or "way of life" is kind of not fully defined though; in my opinion there are still a lot of things like sports which are pointless which a lot of people "waste" time on, whether they are children or adults. So there's kind of a broader discussion needed on what we think is the best use of our time, so that people can freely choose "better" options over "lesser" options.
